THE BLUE RAILWAY WAGON · MID WALES

Seren.
A slower
kind of stay.

Heritage blue outside. Warm oak, a cosy blue armchair and a double bed inside. Seren brings the character of a 1920s railway wagon to a quiet corner of a working Welsh sheep farm.

YOUR OWN LITTLE CORNER OF THE FARM

Old character.
Everyday comforts.

Seren is an entire railway wagon made for two guests. Babies in arms are welcome with your own travel cot; additional children cannot be accommodated. A double bed, armchair and kitchenette share the main living space, with a separate indoor shower room and toilet. Outside, its own bath and firepit make room for evenings in the open air.

The farm is near Newbridge-on-Wye in Mid Wales. Seren and Juniper are approximately 50 metres apart. Land contours, boulders and planting mean you cannot see the other hut from your own. Sheep graze around the working farm, and a three-mile nature trail leads through meadow, woodland and hedgerows.

A FEW QUESTIONS, TAKEN CARE OF

Before your
slow days begin.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 4pm onwards, giving us time to prepare everything beautifully for your arrival. If you’d like to arrive a little earlier, let Natalia know before your stay and we’ll do our best to make it possible. Please check out before 10am.

How many people can stay?

Our huts are made for two, making them a cosy and romantic escape for couples. They’re equally lovely for solo travellers and adventurers looking for a little time away from it all. Babies in arms are welcome, provided you bring your own travel cot. The huts are small and cosy, so we’re unable to accommodate additional children.

Are the huts dog friendly?

We’re afraid our huts aren’t suitable for dogs. We’re a working sheep farm with livestock roaming the surrounding fields, and the open landscape has no securely fenced areas for dogs. The huts are cosy spaces designed for two-legged guests. This helps keep both your pets and our livestock safe, while ensuring everyone can enjoy the surroundings.

What facilities are included?

We’ve thought carefully about the little things that make a stay comfortable, while keeping the character and charm of our historic wagons.

Is parking available?

Yes. Each hut has its own clearly marked private parking space on site, approximately 50 metres from the hut. There is a roundabout nearby to make turning around easy. A wheelbarrow is provided for luggage, with luggage drop-off available by prior arrangement.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes. Strong Wi-Fi is available at both huts. The Wi-Fi code is displayed clearly on the Deco Pod, so it’s easy to find when you arrive.

How far apart are the two huts?

Juniper and Seren are approximately 50 metres apart, carefully positioned to give each hut privacy and seclusion. The natural contours of the land, large boulders and thoughtfully planted areas mean guests cannot see the other hut from their own.

Can we use the firepit?

Yes. The firepit is available throughout the year, subject to temporary restrictions during periods of exceptionally high fire risk. We provide logs, kindling and everything you need to get the fire going, along with a hot plate/griddle for outdoor cooking. Enjoy supper beneath the stars or simply sit back with the warmth and the view.

Is the outdoor bath available all year?

The outdoor bath is available during spring, summer and autumn, and for part of the winter depending on weather conditions. Hot water comes from the gas boiler. Our open landscape is particularly prone to frost. When freezing conditions are expected, we turn off the bath’s water supply to protect the plumbing, original antique taps and fittings. Some original fittings are extremely difficult, if not impossible, to replace, so we take great care to preserve them.

Can we access the River Wye?

Yes. We have private access to the River Wye, approximately a five-minute walk from the huts. The route crosses the main road, where visibility is good, before continuing down to the river. Guests have spotted kingfishers, mandarin ducks, herons, deer, badgers and even an otter, as well as fish leaping from the water. Wild swimming is possible when conditions are suitable, and guests have also enjoyed paddleboarding. Water levels and access vary with the season and weather; discuss current conditions with Natalia before entering the water.

How does booking directly work?

Choose your wagon and dates, review your price, and send a booking request. Natalia reviews the enquiry and personally confirms availability, payment arrangements and cancellation terms. Submitting a request does not reserve the dates, and no payment is taken on this website.

Is breakfast or a catered meal included?

These are self-catering stays. Dining and breakfast photographs show the setting; they do not promise a catered meal or breakfast service. Bring ingredients or discuss any additional arrangements with Natalia.

What about cancellations or accessibility?

Ask Natalia for the cancellation terms before confirming or paying. The wagons have steps, outdoor paths and compact interiors; contact her to discuss mobility requirements so you can decide whether the stay is suitable.
